District Monthly Prayer – January

Rev. Daniel Eddings   -

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)

Make the verse personal

LORD, help me to forget the former things and not dwell on the past. Give me eyes to see You doing a new thing! Watching it spring up now; Yes, I want to perceive it! Thank You in advance for making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Amen and amen.

Spend time with those in your household

Some things you can do to bring this verse to life for those in your family:
– Move things that are used everyday around so they are not as conveniently found (ie. the coffee/maker; the toothpaste; the TV or rearrange a room). Use this as a launch into discussing how God wants to do a new thing, do you perceive it!?!

– Write down the things that have happened in the past that have negatively shaped your thinking or perception of yourself or others. Fold that paper into the smallest square you can. Get a planter with some potting soil or go out into your yard. Bury the square with some seeds. Care for the seeds by watering and providing the needed sun. Every time you care for the seeds pray and ask God to do a new thing in you and to help you see it.

Living in Community and sharing the truth that Jesus Is For All the World

Find a new way to be the hands and feet of Jesus in your community. Maybe volunteer for something that is out of your norm. Let God stretch you!
Pray continually as you go about your daily business asking God to show you how HE is, and wants, to work in your community. Write down all you experience in a notebook or journal.
