District Monthly Prayer – February
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have love you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35(NIV)
Make the verse personal
LORD, I choose to obey this commandment You have given to me, that I love my brothers and sisters in Christ: just as You have loved me, I also am to love them. By this all people will know that I am Your disciple, if I have love for my brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen and amen.
Spend time with those in your household
The Church is divided more today than we have experienced in this generation. We need to model for our families what love within the body of Christ looks like. Do a self-checkup. Examine the way you relate to those in your church. Do you speak about the pastor, their family, or others in your church in front of your children? What was the last act of love/kindness you showed to someone in your congregation?
Do a study on the traits and characteristics of each of the 12 disciples of Jesus. Why do you think Jesus would make one of the last things He reinforced with them before His death was love for each other?
The verse says ALL people will know that we are Christ’s disciples if we love each other. Have a discussion around the table about why it might be hard to love someone. Reflect on times when you might have been/felt unlovable and what you needed at that time in your life. Make a plan to show love to someone that might be difficult to love. Pray for that person together.

Living in Community and sharing the truth that Jesus Is For All the World
Get involved with a ministry in your church or maybe partner with a ministry from another church or organization that focuses on showing God’s love to others. There is power in showing that we are willing to cross denominational lines to love others.
Take a look at your social media presence. Does it reflect a love for all believers in Jesus Christ? Ask God to help you reflect Him in every post.
